Ranger Reel Co. Rockford MI. Rare "LEFTY" No. # 74 Level Wind Circa -1947. Ranger Reel company was a product of the Post War effort to put people back to work and help satisfy the returning GI with its hunger of fishingand the outdoors. It was a smart reel with a short life and eventually after a few years sold to Pioneer Tackle Company also from Michigan. This is a Rare left hand wind, fast and smooth level wind that glides easily side to side. I have never seen another “Lefty” No. 74. This Fine example is extremely Clean and shows beautifully. The spool is aluminum and also very light weight. The clicker is strong and loud and the ABL brake control on the face that functions perfect. Also on the face similar to the earlier Pflueger Summits is a Pawl holder with a new replacement pawl inside. The handle and foot both are catalog correct and extremely clean. Interesting reel with a great story to tell….
