Ranger Reel Co. Rockford MI. "Gold Metal" No. # 77 Level Wind Damaskeened Finish Freespool Circa -1947
Ranger Reel Co. Rockford MI. Gold Metal No. # 77 Level Wind Damaskeened Finish Freespool Circa -1947. Ranger Reel company was a product of the Post War effort to put people back to work and help satisfy the returning GI with its hunger of fishing. It was a smart reel with a short life and eventually after a few years sold to Pioneer Tackle Company also from Michigan. Its a fast and smooth level wind with a standard push and pull handle to engage the freespool. A very common freespool mechanism in those times. I have never seen another Ranger in a freespool version or with the Damaskeened finish. Its extremely Clean as well and shows beautiful . The spool is aluminum and also very light weight. The clicker is strong and loud and the ABL brake control on the face functions perfect. Also on the face similar to the Pflueger Summits is a Pawl holder with a new replacement pawl inside. The handle and foot both are catalog correct and extremely clean. Interesting reel with a great story to tell….
