Outdoor Products "OUTDOORSMAN" Castomatic Philadelphia Pa. Level Wind Circa-1949. Quaker City Gear Works was the Parent company for Outdoor Products MFG. Barney Berlinger Started working at the family business in 1932 after a successful College and Olympic career competing in the Decathlon. During his working life, Berlinger was issued several patents, for example one for 'continuous shaft brake for fishing reels' in 1940s. See last photo for a copy of Patent. In 1978 Mr. Berlinger retired as President of Quaker City Gear Works. This is a Fantastic post War reel in new never fished condition and comes with the Original box also in good condition. Everything functions perfectly as you would expect from a new reel. The spectacular bakelite slide plates are flawless and shine. Great reel with a fantastic story.
