Bronson "MOHAWK ZEPHYR-WATE" Model 37 No. 3112 Trade Reel for Sears Roebuck & Co. Aluminum Level Wind Jeweled with Original Box Circa-1938. This is a very interesting reel that there is a lot of confusion about. In 1936 Sears contracted Bronson Reels & Mfg. to design and build this exact reel and Bronson did this successfully. However at the same time Ocean City was tasked with building the same reel. This is the Bronsons version and not the Ocean City’s Version. Not sure why Sears contracted two companies to build the same reel. This reel holds Model number 3123600A on the face and the Ocean city number for this reel is 311-79 under the foot and Bronsons version says Made in USA with the number 38 underneath as to the year being sold. Also both versions have different cataloged Handles and bearing covers that are traditional with there companies. This Bronson version is in great shape and functions perfectly. Very smooth spinning with a gliding level wind and strong clicker and ABL brake. The box is in fantastic shape showing little storage wear with a very clear label and the box is solid with no rips or split seams. Looks great and the very lightweight aluminum body and spool make this reel fun to cast and fish.
