Montague Jas. L Van Uxem Greenlake Chicago 60 Yard Jeweled Early 1900
Montague Jas. L Van Uxem Greenlake Chicago 60 Yard Jeweled Circa- Early 1900. This is a very clean almost Mint example of a very Rare Montague early reel from Jas. L. Van Uxem Greenlake. Jas. L. Van Uxem was a Chicago based Sporting good store opened up in 1868 and was later Sold to Bullard & Gormley in 1905. These reels in any quality with the Greenlake markings are extremely rare and never seen. It was believed that only 2 dozen of these reels existed in collections in 2010. This is as nice as a collector will ever find. Its fast and smooth with a working clicker and brake, Its semi Kentucky with one button on both side plates. The side plates are big and bold and the spool is narrow. Its Jeweled nicely however the front jewel is flat and Im not entirely sure if its made that way. Its not scratched just flat on the end. I have not seen this before. Still looks great and it may be intended this way for the handle to pass. Fantastic Reel especially for the Chicago collector, Historian of reels, or any collector.
