Martin 67-SS Fly Reel with Original Box & Manual Mohawk N.Y. Circa-1979

$171.00

Martin 67-SS Fly Reel Circa-1979. This is a new never fished Reel and a very clean box that has very little storage wear. Mint Combination with everything functioning perfectly. This is the high end version of the 67 standard reel with the SS included. In general, palming rims (SS or "skirted spool" as Martin called it) began gaining popularity from about 1980 onward. Most of my 67SS and variant forms such as the LL Bean Angler 1, were purchased about 1985 or later. In the case of Martin, and many other makes, the reel was otherwise the same as its conventional spool version but for a slightly different frame ring to allow clearance for the "skirt." You can see this same evolution in other popular reels of the time such as the JW Young 1500 series.
The basic pillar and plate design with coil-spring, arm, and cam-adjustable click drag continued well into the 1990s with the USA-made Classic and Trophy series reels which were also configured for others such as Browning. Spectacular combo never seen in new condition.
