Julius Vom Hofe Raised Pillar Trade Fly Reel made for Abercrombie & Fitch New York 2-1/2" Size 2 German Silver Circa-1910. This very fine Fly Reel is stamped Abercrombie & Fitch New York on the front plate and Julius Vom Hofe on the rear plate with patent date Oct. 8, 1889. The foot is untouched and is stamped with the number 2. It measures 2 1/2 inches from pillar to pillar and the diameter of the side plate is under 2 inches. German silver is in fine condition showing little flaws. The ebonite side plates remain in terrific condition with no cracks, chips or damage. Mechanically it functions flawlessly spinning extremely smooth and with a strong working clicker. Also Aesthetically it is a jewel. Very Very Fine Reel.
