In 1946-47 Edwin Hurd applied for 5 patents and its believed he started making rods & Reel combinations shortly there after. His 5th and final patent No# 2,578,477 was granted finally on July 3rd 1951. This spectacular example serial # 50311 is extremely clean, Very smooth with all functions working perfectly. The Checkerboard Handle is also in very fine condition. The extremely fine condition Rod is believed to be made from a left over Tank Aerial from the War. All rod eyes & ties are original and in fantastic conditon. The original Leatherette case is also in very fine condition with a strong working zipper. Best example of a Historical popular reel I have ever owned.
