Thos. H. Chubb "Henshall Van Antwerp" made by Julius Vom Hofe 3rd Model Circa-1895. This is a very fine reel built by Julius Vom Hofe with the Thomas H. Chubb Patents in the Name of Dr. J.A. Henshall the famous Author of the early book “ The book of Black Bass”. Dr. Henshall credited Thomas Chubb for the products used to write and research the book. Thomas Chubb also credited Dr. Wm. Van Antwerp for co-designing this reel. Simple this is one of the finest solid german silver reels ever made. Its big, equivalent to a normal size 5 Kentucky reel. The german silver pillars are nicely sculptured, The german silver Handle and handle nut are elegantly designed and counter balanced nicely with a free spinning grip. The spool is narrow, extremely clean, and also made in german Silver as well. German silver bearing covers are removable, knurled, simple, classic, and clean. The foot is clean, german silver, and not manicured. The reel carries the early serial No. # 548 underneath the elegant foot. This classic reel is smooth , and very fast with the rear plate clicker and brake buttons working perfectly.
