Rare G.W. Gayle & Son No. #3 HANDMADE Top Hat German Silver Kentucky Style Circa -1900. George Gayle died in 1896 however his Son Clarence continued to make this reel known as the “Standard” along with other reel variations until the 1930s. This is a very nice solid German Silver solid heavy Tophat Reel. Its total Kentucky style with both clicker and brake buttons on the front plate. Reel spins amazing, its fast and very smooth with the clicker and brake both functioning perfectly. Both Handle and full length foot are in fantastic condition and catalog correct. Notice the slight crack at the top of the reel front plate but be assured its only a surface crack and not seen from the inside. Fantastic early Kentucky reel.
