Chamberlin Cartridge & Target Co. "Hunter Reel" E-Z-Apart Reel Cleveland, Ohio Circa-1904. This first version was patented on May 19, 1903 and on January 19, 1904 by Robert Hunter. The reel was called "The E-Z-Apart Reel" because of the head plate quick release slide on its rim ( see photo’s). This allowed the reel to be quickly taken apart to clean and lubricate it. The first version incorporated an anti-backlash line bar ( see photo’s) and a rear end plate mounted thumb plunger brake ( see photo’s). This reel is is fantastic condition with both side hard rubber rim inserts in perfect condition. German silver plates and pillars are also in great condition. The Bakelite light weight spool is clean with no cracks or breaks. All functions work fully as intended. Handle and foot are both in great shape and along with everything on this unique reel catalog Correct. Very tough reel in very fine condition.
