B.F. Meek & Sons No. 3 Blue Grass Kentucky Style Circa- 1892. This is a very nice example of a super clean Meek & Sons workhorse of a Reel. Its super fast and smooth as you would expect from a Meek Classic. The clicker and Brake both work perfectly. Its a true classic with the low serial number of #4942. The foot is clean and unmanicured. Truly fantastic example and personal reel engraved for Francis Beidler Jr. who was born in Chicago in 1854. Mr Beidlers Logging Company Santee River Cypress Lumber began in 1881, the Santee Cypress Company purchased 165,000 acres of land in central South Carolina. In 1915 he shut down all operations including logging on this land to Create Congaree National Park, near Columbia and the Francis Beidler Forest that still exist today and are part of the Ramsar list of wetlands of International importance. A true environmentalist ahead of his time. Great historical reel!
