AL FOSS 3-25 Casting Reel With Leather case
Vintage Rare AL FOSS 3-25 Fishing/Casting Reel W/Leather case JEWELED & Aluminum SPOOL Guard. This is from the Casting & Pork Rind Lure Legend Al Foss believed to be designed By Jack Welch and built by James Heddon in middle to late 1920s. There are a lot of people who dispute that statement but Al Foss and Jack Welch were known to be close friends. I personally believe this was made by Horton/Meek… It is also called the 3-25 which is also a Heddon Reel number ( STRANGE ) and kinda has that look. As far as I know no one seems to know for sure exactly who built this Reel. Regardless this is a very light weight Extremely fast and smooth action Reel. Most definitely for Casting with speed. The double grip handle is clean and straight and the grips spin freely and any reel collector will always say thats a Foss handle. Its a simple reel with small amounts of knurling on the head plate rim but spectacular knurled removable bearing covers covering very clean clear saphire Jewels. The center spool is amazing , clean and straight. The reel foot is great and maybe slightly manicured I believe on the tips but looks great. The leather case is in mint condition showing no flaws. This is a very nice example of a legends Reel made by him for him and anyone would be lucky to find it in there collection.
