A.B. Hendryx KETTLETOWN Taka-Apart Casting Reel Circa-1905
A.B. Hendryx KETTLETOWN Taka-Apart Casting Reel Circa-1905. Extremely Rare Reel never seen especially in this condition. (Patent-#782130) Using perhaps a frame derived from Wm. Shakespeare’s 1901 Design, Andrew B. Hendryx recieved a patent on 2/7/1905 for a method of holding a coverplate over the recess of an annular headplate. The eccentric heads of specially designed rivets overlapped the coverplate edges to clamp the plate to shoulders provided on the inner circumferences of the annular headplate. The heads were slotted for screwdrivers and were turned to release the plate, so the reel could be disassembled. ( See Photo’s) This reel is in fine condition, spins fantastic with both clicker and brake functioning perfectly. Handle is in fantastic condition with a free spinning grip and the foot is full length showing the Hendryx name clearly. Very Historical rare early reel.
